The Golden Bridge in the Silver Fog: Ba Na Hills

The Golden Bridge is high in the Ba Na mountains in Vietnam. It was built specifically for tourists to see the interesting architecture and breathtaking view.

To reach the bridge, you must take a ten-minute gondola ride over the forest. Our guide told us that you used to be able to see elephants or tigers in the jungle below. We saw towering trees, steep cliffs, and hazy clouds on our ascent.

The bridge looks as though it were suspended by a pair of large stone hands. The rails are golden, like the name, and the view beyond is beautiful. It is part of an entire amusement park you can visit afterwards.

If you’re planning to visit the bridge, make sure to check the weather first! Ba Na is about 10-15 degrees F cooler than Da Nang, so a light jacket might be useful. When we visited, the entire bridge was shrouded in thick white fog, which obscured the famous view. This was disappointing, but did make for a dramatic photo shoot as I spotted a massive hand reaching out of the fog.

Overall, the Golden Bridge is a fascinating destination where the beauty of nature and creativity of mankind come together!
